This lusciously beautiful take on Camus’s classic novel is set in Algeria. Its beautiful anti-hero drifts through life with detachment and with little reason, murders an Arab man in cold blood. He defends himself in a nakedly racist court with listless unconcern, shocking all those who want to help him escape justice, by refusing to show a remorse that he doesn’t feel.
