H is for Hawk (12) at The Film Place

An angry and bereaved young woman finds solace in training Mabel, a wild goshawk, to hunt and fly free, taking her to her own journey of resilience and healing. To play the role, Foy had the demanding task of training the hawk herself. The sequences involving her with this terrifying predator are spectacular, as are Foy’s own strange relationships with the bird and with unsympathetic colleagues. Deborah Ross in the Spectator says, “It is a career best for Foy, who will doubtless win many awards. I hope that the bird gets one too”.
