Join Stowe as they look at all nature, from insects to trees to mammals to fungi to wildflowers to reptiles - and everything inbetween. Last year on their first Big Stowe BioBlitz they recorded an incredible 340 species and this year they hope to find even more. To complete their challenge, they need as many eyes on the ground as possible - and everyone of all ages and abilities is welcome!
They are running the BioBlitz through iNaturalist which helps ID species from a photo so all you need is a bit of an enthusiasm and either a phone to download the iNaturalist app on, or a camera to take photos to then upload on the iNaturalist website at home. If you have a chance, please download the app in advance so you are all ready to go on the day. They will also have paper spotter sheets available if you do not wish to use the app. The data you collect will contribute to national citizen science records and be used by Stowe to inform their wildlife conservation work.
Meet at the New Inn Visitor Centre any time between 10-4.30pm on Saturday 28 June where they will give you all the information on planned events for the day, hand out spotter sheets and answer any questions. You will then be able to explore and survey the gardens and parkland in your own time.
Book your free ticket now here or turn up on the day.
If you have any questions, or would be interested in attending as a group or specialist survey, please email stowerangers@nationaltrust.org.uk
