The final chapter of the Odyssey when Ulysses returns to find his Court besieged by impatient, warlike suitors of his wife Penelope, the affairs of state in chaos and his son, Telemachus, distrusting the suitors but trying to come to terms with the continuing absence of his father.   Disguising himself as an impoverished beggar, Ulysses remains incognito while ruefully observing how things have fallen apart.  The magnificent story telling of Homer never loses its fascination, or its grip on the triumphs and failings of the human race.  Binoche as Penelope and Fiennes as Ulysses portray the light and the dark with finesse and understanding.
