In a grim, dark, occupied post-war Vienna, a writer finds his friend dead. He believes that there was a third man present at the time that his friend died and this leads to resistance from a British officer. He later falls in love with his dead friend’s grieving lover. A film full of iconic deadpan one-liners and classic scenes like the famous Ferris wheel conversation in which the genius Orson Welles excels as Harry Lime, the cynical and witty spy.
