Kind Hearts and Coronets (PG) at The Film Place

In this bewitching 1949 classic comedy of British snobbery, sexual repression and corruption, an aristocratic family disowns their daughter for marrying beneath her, denying her scheming son from becoming a duke.  After her death he seeks revenge by systematically murdering, in increasingly fascinating ways, the eight people ahead of him in line of succession to the dukedom. Kevin Mahler in The Times says, “A black comedy with beautiful writing – the screenplay, is a joy – flawlessly silly filmmaking”. The twist at the end is worth the attendance alone
