In 1983, John is a young lad growing up in Scotland pursuing a promising career in football but then involuntary swearing and tics creep into his mannerisms.  Misunderstood by teachers and parents, he treads a downward path until he meets Dottie, an unflappable mental nurse. This is a real-life, feel-good film with smart, subtle comedy. He did, after all, achieve an MBE!
