Tuner is a stylish neo noir film which finds harmony between crime and romance. Directed by Daniel Roher it stars Leo Woodall as piano tuner Nicki, who has a hearing condition that is mostly a curse but partly a blessing. His hearing is too sensitive, which is useful for tuning pianos, but also means when confronted with a tempting safe, he has to make do without a stethoscope. Discovering his unexpected aptitude turns his life upside down. With a cast that includes Dustin Hoffman as his older partner Harry, Havana Rose Lui as a concert pianist and romantic interest, plus a sparkling part jazz, part electronic score and vintage tracks by Herbie Hancock. This is an easy-going thriller which plays all the right notes.
