From Medieval Chapel to Cosy Book Nook: Buckingham’s Living History
One of the most beautiful spots to get a tea or coffee and a snack in Buckingham is National Trust - Buckingham Chantry Chapel. Built in the 12th century, it’s the oldest building in Buckingham, with centuries of history held within its walls. Today, this peaceful medieval space has been transformed into a cosy second-hand bookshop, coffee spot, and community space. Open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am!
The volunteers are always friendly, the deals on books are amazing, and it’s the perfect place to slow down for an hour. This whole book series was only £10.50 — retailing at around £70 new. If you have books you no longer need, they also take donations, and if there’s a series you’ve been meaning to read, it’s always worth popping in to see what treasures are on the shelves.
They also rent out the space for regular meetings and one-off events, making it a lovely setting for clubs, creative groups, or community gatherings. With its historic chapel atmosphere, it’s especially perfect for history lovers visiting Buckingham. It’s even dog friendly so there’s no excuse not to visit!
